Registration and Orientation Events

Welcome to the Sand Shark Family!

Congratulations on your acceptance! Think you're ready to be a Sand Shark? USCB has a 3 step orientation process for out incoming spring students.

Step 1

The office of Academic Advising and Success is excited to help you build your spring 2023 schedule. Email advising@uscb.edu to setup a time. Though priority registration for incoming students is November 14th-28th, new students can register at any point up to the last day of drop/add in the spring 2023 term, Tuesday, January 17th.

Step 2

This series of virtual workshops are designed to answer the questions we know a lot of new students have prior to starting classes. These workshops are optional, but highly encouraged. Pick and choose what you feel like you need to start your Sand Shark experience off on the right foot! If you can’t attend one or more of these workshops, no worries. We will be recording them and posting them on our New Student Toolkit page.

Financial Aid and Billing: How it Works- Watch Recording here!

In this session representatives from the Office of Financial Aid and the Bursar's Office will explain how to read your bill, understand your financial aid package, apply your aid to your bill, set up and payment plan, and make your spring tuition payment.

Understanding University Technology- Watch Recording here!

Learn how to access University Technologies such as Self-Service Carolina, University Email, and Blackboard. The session will also cover how to download free software, what kind of computers work best for USCB students, what kinds of support ITSS can offer, and how students get their USCB Student ID Card.

Living on Campus 101 - Watch Recording here!

Learn everything you need to know to be ready to move-in to campus this spring. Housing staff will be there to discuss floor plans, what to bring, what to leave at home, and housing policies.

Step 3

Shark School is required for all new first-year and transfer students taking in-person classes at USCB. This introduction will help you prepare for your transition into college life and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

During Shark School Students will:

  • Connect with peers and form friendships
  • Identify and understand of campus resources, services, activities, University technologies, policies, and procedures
  • Comprehend academic requirements, expectations, and the purpose of a liberal arts education
  • Understand the student experience and what it means to be a member of the USCB Community
  • Recognize common issues and experiences during the transition to USCB

Student's are also encouraged to bring their family members to participate in our New Student Family Info Session  during Shark School

*Please note that there is a $10 per guest fee for all guests to attend. You will be directed to a payment link once submitting this form.  Incoming students attend Shark School free of charge.
